Our business areas:

Underwriting Services

As an Underwriting Service Apprentice you will handle activities within the renewal and new business process for assigned accounts to help Underwriters decision making, and ensure policies are issued and recorded on point and on time. It’s all about providing support to the Underwriter in the areas of underwriting services, procedures, policy endorsements and policy issuance. You’ll need to interact on a daily basis with brokers and customers for their assigned accounts as well as attending external meetings to assure that all aspects and deadlines of delivery are fulfilled.

Governance

Our Retail Governance function is a dynamic department in our UK Life Insurance business, and it’s critical in ensuring we provide our customers with an efficient, professional and safe service. As a Governance Analyst you’ll deal with a whole range of situations, from investigating potential fraud to working with financial advisers and other businesses to enhance service to our customers. You will be protecting our customers and adding value to our shareholders.

Claims

Our claims function is the largest department in our UK General Insurance business and it’s critical to ensuring we deliver a first-class service to our customers efficiently, professionally and with empathy. Our claims handlers deal with a whole range of situations, from stolen cars to flood-damaged businesses, and need to be able to work quickly with our customers to provide support at an often-stressful time.

Pricing

Our talented and specialist actuarial team underpins nearly everything we do. From product development to financial management, the team is responsible for a range of strategic decision-making initiatives. We have teams in both our Life and GI businesses, spanning both Finance and Underwriting, with exciting opportunities for career development, including full study support.


Who are we looking for and what entry requirements do you need?

At Zurich, our customer is at the heart of everything we do. So the ability to deliver excellent customer service and outcomes is key. Our roles are challenging, you need to be able to prioritise and manage varying workloads, handle pressure and build good relationships with your team.

You’ll need a willingness to learn and we want you to be passionate. After all, it’s important for us that you love what you do. Additionally, you must have the aptitude and commitment to continue learning and successfully attain professional qualifications and technical skills. Underwriting, Governance and claims apprenticeships require a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C+ including Maths and English, A Levels or equivalent would be advantageous. 

Pricing apprenticeships require a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C+ including Maths and English, and 280 UCAS points at A Level.

Our recruitment process

Stage 1: Online application form

Your first step will be to complete an online application form. This gives you the chance to tell us a bit more about yourself and answer some eligibility questions which will help us to check you meet the requirements of the programme.

Hint!
First impressions count! So we recommend you take the time to carefully update and double check for spelling and grammatical errors on your CV before attaching it to your profile.  

 


Stage 2: Online tests

Firstly you complete our values based assessment, where you’ll be asked to choose between different approaches to situations at work. You will need to meet our requirements before progressing through to ability questions which measure your understanding of information presented to you in different formats and assesses your ability to accurately evaluate and interpret data.

Hint!
You can expect the online tests to take between 20-30 minutes, make sure you allow plenty of time, that you have a good internet connection and that you are in a comfortable environment free from distractions.  

Stage 3: Video interview

You will be asked a series of motivational and competency-based questions and provide recorded video and written responses. Our video interviews will take approximately 20-30 minutes and is completed in one sitting.  

Hint!
You can prepare for a video interview in the same way you would prepare for any interview; it’s your opportunity to tell us a bit more about yourself and your skills, capabilities and interests. You will have one chance to record your responses, so do make the most of the practice session to familiarise yourself with the format. Make sure you plan your time carefully to complete the interview and again ensure the environment around you is free from distractions. You will just have one chance to record your responses so do make sure you prepare by revisiting the details of the programme you have applied for and research our company values and the services and products we provide. Stage 4: Assessment Centre

During the assessment centre you’ll meet members of the Zurich team and current apprentices. Our assessment centre includes an interview and group exercise.

Our assessment centres provide an excellent opportunity for you to meet representatives from the business and find out more about Zurich and the apprenticeship you are applying for. We want get to know you better on the day too so do try to relax, be yourself and let your personality shine through. Make sure you think about any questions you would like to ask about Zurich so you can be sure this is the right opportunity for you.
